Animal Section

Being hilly area the placement of the enclosures depends more on the availability and suitability of site for the specific animal species. There are 17 enclosure and 3 cages for display of these animals. For the pheasants there are 2 pheasantry with 15 pens (7 old, rectangular + 8 new, circular).

Zoo animals are kept in open enclosures which allow them to largely fulfil their behavioural and physical requirements. There is an attempt to make enclosures as naturalistic as possible. Massive cement structures that do not merge with sylvan surroundings of the park have been avoided.

For the better management of the animals, the Zoo has been divided into two sections section I and II section.

Section I comprises of Musk deer, Barking deer, Himalayan Tahr, Goral and Sambar.
Section II comprises of Black Bear, Brown Bear, Leopard, Leopard cat,Himalyan grifon and Pheasants.
